I hope that everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We had both of our families together last night with tons of great food. We invited other patients and nurses from the floor to come eat with us. We really took over the visitor's lounge.
Rob made a huge step in his recovery yesterday. It was a really tough move, but Rob got into his wheelchair and came out of his room to eat with the family. It was really the first time that most of the family has seen him in the chair as well as Rob being open to being seen. It was an emotional moment, but I think a very powerful one to jump start the next section of rehab. We are just hoping that the ribs continue to heal and he gets his appetite back so that he will have the strength to accomplish next week's goals.

Extra Prayer Needed
My heart is very heavy tonight because I am at the hospital with Rob and my mom just called to say that Kailyn is very sick with what appears to be the flu. It is especially hard since I am not there with her. Please could you add her to you prayer list for tomorrow so that she will have a speedy recovery. I know that God said that he will not ever give us more than we can handle, but I must be honest and say that I think that Rob and I have reached our limit. I know that God must have much more faith in us than we do in ourselves. We need your prayers and kind words more than ever as it seems to continue getting more and more emotional.
As for Rob, medically he is doing much better so we are hoping that nothing new will pop up and he will now be able to focus all of his attention on therapy. He made huge progress this afternoon and even went all the way down to the cafeteria in his wheelchair. This was a huge step for him today both physically and emotionally. I will keep you updated as the week goes on.

Steps Forward Today
I am sorry that it has been a while since my latest post. There has been a lot going on plus it is so hard to find the words to say. At last today, we have made some great forward progress so I have good news to report again.
Rob has been a little sick this week with pneumonia and another infection, but thanks to antibiotics, he is finally feeling better today and was able to do his therapy again. The doctor also reported today that all of his lab levels are moving in the right direction so we are hopeful to the week ahead.
He started his day with his very first shower since the accident and finished all 3 hours of therapy. He was of course, very tired after all this, but was very determined to get it all done. I wish you guys could have seen the determination in his eyes. The doctor said that it is amazing how much progres he made just in one day today. He learned how to sit up from his back, which usually takes a while to master without abdominal muscles or legs to help you. After a few attemps and a few suggestions with a couple of the therapists, Rob had already got it down. He is also mastering transfers very well, which in case you dont know, transfers are moving from the bed to chair or chair to any other surface like the mats in the gym at the hospital. I must admit I was very proud to witness him today. We are just going to lay low this weekend with lots of good football to watch. Hopefully, next week will be our first full week of therapy with no more medical problems. I would appreciate that it would be put on your prayer list for this week that Rob will stay healthy and that he will not have any other new medical problems.
As for me and Kailyn, we are doing well. Kailyn started back at her school last week so that we can try to return her to her old routine as much as possible. This would not be possible without all of the help from my mom and Ember. Kailyn has been up several times to visit dad at the hospital this week and she is trying her hardest to get at him. We try to have her stay by his head so that she does not kick at his broken ribs. She mostly wants to eat his hospital band and TV remote. I have made friends with many of the other patients on the floor as well as all of the doctors and nurses. Since we have been giving them our leftover food everyday, I think we are their favorite room. Rob thinks it is very funny to watch the doctors faces when I ask them questions, because he says they look like deer caught in headlights. I have a medical background plus I have consulted with a doctor friend regarding some of Robs problems, so I am always keeping Rob's doctors on their toes.
I will try to keep you guys updated more often. I would like to again thank all of you for your financial support, kind words and especially all of the prayer support. We love you guys so much and appreciate you all.

What an Inspiring Person
Rob started rehab on Thursday and now has 3 hours that he must commit everyday to rehab, half in occupational and half in physical therapy. He had the weekend off but asked the nurses to help him do some of rehab even on his day off. He is the most amazing person I have ever met and I am inspired seeing the progress that he is making daily.
Despite all of the pain in the broken ribs, he is pushing himself to do everything that the therapists ask of him and has even asked for more. He especially likes the workouts that they give him to stregthen his upper body. They are currently estimating 6 weeks in the inpatient rehab, but he must meet certain goals before they will let him come home.
I was able to hang out with him all weekend at the hospital and we had such a great time together. We talked, laughed and just sat silent enjoying each other's company. He is so sweet to all of the nurses and he was even rubbing my back today while I was feeding him lunch.
I love him more and more everyday and believe that we could all learn so much from him. He is taking everyday in stride and has such a positive attitude about our future. Of course, there are difficult times, but as we have decided there is nothing that we can't accomplish together with God on our side.
We love all of you and appreciate the continued support and prayers. I cant wait to continue giving the updates on how great Rob is doing. Thank you for being our friends and showing so much love during this time.

A Nicer View
Rob moved to room 450 today, nice view huh? It is the penthouse suite of the fourth floor. There is a couch, 3 TVs, refrigerator, and more. Bribery has paid off - we have given the doctors and nurses some food from Guarmondo Catering and they love it!Thank You to everyone who has been so wonderful to our family this past week, we can't ever express how much it means to us.

Rob's Friends Are So Great!!!
The following is a message that Rob's friends asked us to post:
Greetings All,
A few days ago Rob Beckner suffered a severe spinal injury due to a horrible accident on his jobsite. He has already gone through surgery and is paralyzed from the waste down.
Rob is self employed running his own construction business and does not have the necessary insurance to get him through this time of need. On top of this Rob and his girlfriend Heather recently gave birth to a baby girl named Kailyn who is now 4 months old. Many of you copied on this message are friends of Rob or at least know him as an acquaintance from Issaquah High.
Some of you probably do not know him at all but I called on you anyways because this is a time that we as Rob's friends need to put our very best foot forward. Rob Beckner is a warm hearted, hard working and very charismatic young man. I know he does not want us to pity him, but I also know that he and his family will be honored, touched and extremely grateful to see their community rally around them.
This Friday night, November 10th at 8:30 pm, Robert (Bobby) Brunjes' band Low Thin Square will hold a benefit at the Central Saloon in Pioneer Square. The band will contribute their earnings from the show and there will be a donation booth set up at the show where we can all show our generosity toward Rob's recovery.
Come see a great show, visit with some old friends and be a part of a good cause. For those who cannot make the show but have the desire and ability to contribute please visit www.prayforrob.blogspot.com.
Low Thin Square is also performing at the Show Box on November 24th at 8:00 pm, which will be another great chance to come out and help. Please find it in your hearts to contribute to this worthy cause.

Rob has moved
Rob has moved rooms, he is now on the fourth floor in room 457. He is in the rehabilitation unit of the hospital. Hopefully he will start to feel better and strong enough to start his road to recovery soon.Our family would like to thank everyone who has visited, called, left messages, sent gifts, etc. The love and support we have received in the last week has been overwhelming, we are very lucky to have so many caring people in our lives.

Kailyn has been visiting, and really cheers up everyone. She is so lucky to have two incredibly amazing parents.
Heather has been so strong and supportive, Rob is in good hands.
We are so grateful to have her in our family, we all love you so much Heather and could never get through this with out you.

What a pleasure!
I had the pleasure of being with Rob all of last night until midday today and all I can say is he is the most amazing man I have ever met.
He is so strong and has a better attitude than I anyone could have ever imagined possible.
He wanted to see Kailyn today so she hung out and gave drooly kisses and kept stealing his blanket from him. She giggled the whole time and definately lightened the mood.
We would like to thank everyone for all of the amazing support and prayers. Our God is an awesome God, and with Him all things are possible. The family and I will let you know more as he continues to recover and start the inpatient rehab program.
