Praise God that we made it through these last few weeks. We have had great support from our family during this rough time. As you will read, I have been pretty sick and our schedule only gets busier. I am so glad that we have each other, our family and friends, everyone reading this blog and above all else, God is on our side.
Thank you!
Well as you can see life is returning more to normal. I am back at work, Kailyn is back to school, and Rob is exploring new work and business opportunities. We have been really busy with weekly outpatient appointments for Rob in between my work schedule. They are mostly focusing on the advanced things now like getting on and off the floor from the wheelchair, which Rob is doing quite well. Physically, I think that he can conquer anything. I think that we still need a lot of continued prayer and support to beat the mental game. It seems like everyday there is a new challenge that we must face. It will be nice when some more time as passed and life can return to a more normal pattern.
Kailyn is doing well. She has had a lingering virus for what seems like months but I think that she is slowly returning to herself. She is learning how to pull herself up onto her knees, and thinks that she is actually strong enough to stand. Unfortunately, her body is not as ready as her mind, and we had our first fall. She tried to pull up on the edge of the bathtub and by the time I got to grab her(for the 3rd time) she had already bumped her forehead. It was the first painful cry I have seen her have, but she pulled through great. She is tough just like dad.
For those of you that have not heard, about 2 weeks ago I became very ill within hours. Gail had to take me to the ER with a 104 degree temp and as it turned out, I have mono. I later developed a double ear infection so after my doctor put me on antibiotics and prednisone, I am feeling much better. Still a little tired, but I think that I am so used to that feeling, I am able to just move on unaffected. I know, before you say it!, that I need to be smart and take care of myself, it is just hard sometimes. There needs to be more hours in the day.
We have discussed many options for a wedding and still have not come to a clear arrangement. I think that we are going to wait until summer of 2008 so that we have time to plan and our life will be a lot smoother by then. I am having a lot of fun researching though, and we hope to start visiting some venues in the next few months. We are also in the process of finding a car for Rob. We have the hand controls that my parents got already, we just have to find the big "hooptie" that Rob wants. I think that he is leaning towards a Cadillac Deville because he thinks it will give him enough room to pull the wheelchair through. We plan on physically testing this theory this weekend when we go car shopping. Rob has been meeting with various great people about jobs as well as starting his own business again. We want to explore all avenues before a decision is made. Until then, he is home all week and open to visitors if anyone has a day off. I am gone M, W and F for work so he could use the company. Also, please read the blog soon, as Demian and their friends are having a charity concert to help raise money for Rob's golf cart. We can't wait to get him back on the course. He went for a test drive in the Solorider and it looks like it is going to work with a few minor adjustments. I will keep you posted!
With love,
Heather
